Heyne makes the following statement: "Die kleinen aus braunem und schwarzem Papier geschnittenen Silhouetten auf weißem Grund geben Zeugnis von der Befähigung Schwinds, selbst in kleinestem Format Tiere durch die Führung der Umrißlinie zu charakterisieren." (Silhouettes cut out of brown and black paper on a white ground bear witness of Schwind’s ability to characterize animals by means of contour lines even in smallest formats.)
